We absolutely love World Book Day, all three boys are official bookworms! I loved reading growing up and I still do but one of the things I love every year is seeing kids celebrate their favourite story book character.
I have noticed a few attractions posting special book day events so I thought I would pop them all together in this handy post for you to come back too.
World Book Day 2023 falls on 2nd March- Please note some events are happening over the weekend.

All Week! Sunderland Family Centres are celebrating all week with Daily themed Book day sessions.
2nd The Play Café Sunderland - an afternoon with the Gruffalo
4th March - Eldon Square and Read North East have teamed up and hidden fab tales for ages 0 to 12 year olds around the centre. If you find a book it’s yours to take home or you can visit the stand located in St Andrew’s Way and swap it for one you love.
4th/5th - Seven Stories are running Pay as you feel Storytime sessions all weekend. The museum is also free and a fab place to celebrate World Book Day with lots of hands on activities.
2nd March - Cockerton Library Darlington - Exclusive World Book Day Giveaway. Pop along and borrow a book to be in with a chance of winning a goody bag
Darlington Library Rhyme-time session for 1-4 year olds. Fancy dress optional FREE session but must be booked.
Available to book at 8am on the morning of the session.
2nd March - The Myton House Farm Stockton, create your own book mark and donate any old books to charity!
2nd March - North East Action for Children, Parents and inclusion - Pop along to the Little Borrowers Session on Wednesday 1st March for our World Book Day
2nd The Newton Grange - Durham. Every children’s meal ordered will come with a free book for the child! There’s limited availability so be quick!
27th Feb - 3rd March The Longacre Pub - Redcar every kid who eat at the pub a free book. Monday
4th March - Coco Kids Consett, Slime Workshop Learn how to make it, roll it and more! The session also includes games and refreshments.
Fancy dress optional. Drop off session
Recommended for ages 5+ £12.50 per child. Booking necessary
4th March - Sherburn Village & Community Library 10-12 Come dressed up as your favourite character and join in with the book-related activities.

3rd March Birtley Library - Storytime Session suitable for under 5s No booking needed
1st March Wreakington Library - Rhyme Time Sessions join in with songs and rhymes, using a variety of lyre, instruments, scarves and puppets to make singing lots of fun. No booking needed.
2nd march - Moobears Chester Le Street Cruella and Dalmatian themed sessions.
2 hour play session and feel free to come wearing fancy dress, dance and games You can also have your pic taken with the mascots and you can join in with world book day crafts. Sessions running at 9, 11.30, 2

3rd - Pelaw Library - Storytime for under5's. Online booking not necessary. Secure your place by contacting the library direct.
1st March - Leam Lane Library - Storytime Sessions. Online booking not necessary. Contact the library to book your place
4th - Newcastle City Library - Creative Workshop with Lucy Farfort 1.30-2.30
After a short talk followed by a reading, Lucy will invite you to re-create yourself as a character in a book. Booking is necessary (Free)
Newcastle Libraries - All branches will be celebrating with Games and activities
