Things to do with Tweens & Teens

Another topic that came up when I asked my readers what they would like to see was things to do with Teens. Now we have one tween (Elliot - 12) and two Teens ( Toby- 16, Adam 18) So we are always looking for things to do for the whole family so I have whipped up this post to hopefully give some people some ideas especially for throughout the summer holidays for things they can do with teens.

Bowling - A family favourite, there are a few to choose from in the North east. Our favourite is Sunderland Bowl as you can also do Crazy golf, darts and more. Plus you get free parking in the multi-storey if you ask for a parking card.

Beamish Museum - I think Beamish is the North Easts favourite attraction There's loads to do, everyone always loves a visit to the sweet shop no matter how old you are.

Horse Riding - East Boldon Riding Centre have some great options for all ages

Go Ape - Go Ape have locations in accessible to most areas and teens love to climb so its worth a visit

Paint Ball - Are you brave enough to have a go?

Gaming Lounge - there's quite a few popped up across the North East over the last few years. A chance to get your teen to at least try and interact with other human beings.

Ice Skating - I love to Ice Skate it is a great activity and definitely something my teens enjoy doing.

Cinema - Most places have a cinema and Sunderland has a brand spanking new one called Omni plex. Our teens love heading to check out the latest movie

Boat trips - We really enjoy hiring a boat On Windermere and just relaxing. The boys like dipping there hand in the water and just watching the world go by

Escape Room - Again something else that has appeared all over the place is Escape Rooms.

Explore a castle - The North East has some pretty impressive Castles to explore but if you are willing to travel you can find so many in England. Bamburgh Castle is a firm North East Favourite.

National Trust Properties. We love visiting National Trust properties and exploring, most have some decent walking routes too which is ideal to get your teen out of the house and into nature

A Zoo visit - Who doesn't love a zoo? My personal favourites are Blackpool and London

Theme Park - Most kids, Tweens, Teens love a theme park and seeking there next big thrill on a ride. The UK has some great options from Alton Towers, Flamingo Land, Thorp Park and more.

Alpaca Walks - We recently did this and the boys loved it, although, Elliot did get spat on so he wasn't keen on this part.

Ghost walk - I have noticed more Ghost walks become available lately so if your teen like a bit of a scare then this could be for you.

Visit a Museum - Honestly there's loads just in the North East, if you fancy a longer journey then we highly recommend The World Museum in Liverpool

Try out some Water Sports, Adventure Sunderland has some fantastic classes including surfing and paddle boarding.

Climbing wall - Newcastle, Durham and Sunderland all have fantastic climbing wall facilities

Forest walks - If you fancy going for a long walk or even a bike ride Kielder is ideal or you could head to Dalby Forest which is also great and has some fab trails

Snow-sports - Silksworth Ski Slope is a great option if your teen fancies learning how to ski

Head to a dungeon - The boys always enjoy visiting York or Edinburgh Dungeon. You can also find one in Blackpool and Alton Towers(you have to pay extra for this)

Pottery Painting - Elliot enjoys a pottery class and finds it really relaxing. This is definitely something I recommend trying at least once.

Falconry - Try your hand at a falconry experience or you could just visit a falconry centre. Our favourites are Thorp Perrow, Kirkleatham Owls centre and Kielder birds of prey

North East Land Sea and Air Museum is a lovely day out near Nissan. It has lots of transport to look at so it is ideal for transport lovers.

Helmsley Open Air Swimming Pool, You could go swimming in any pool but try an open air pool it is lots of fun.

Locomotion - They have just opened a new shed meaning that they now have the largest collection of rail vehicles in Europe. Perfect for a train spotter.

Brimham Rocks - If you fancy a Hike then try Brimham Rocks

Mini Golf - You can find mini golf pretty much everywhere these days, Elliot doesn't enjoy it because his hand eye co ordination is terrible but the other two love a game.

Yorkshire Lavender - if you want some a bit more relaxing, Yorkshire lavender will have you snoozing on the grass. It is lovely!

Visit a cavern - Love to explore? Try exploring a cavern! ( Please only visit professional businesses, don't go exploring caves on your own)

Axe Throwing -Who doesn't love throwing an axe?

Let me know what you and your tweens/teens love to get up too. I really hope this gives you a few ideas.
