The North Pole Express Steams into The Woodmans Arms this Christmas!
Ad - We visited The Woodman Arms in Whickham last night and WOW! If you are looking for a festive treat then look no further because this place offers it all.
This year the theme is The polar express. As soon as you get out in the car park you instantly feel the festive magic. Walking through the trees all lit and decorated just makes you feel all Christmassy, until you get inside and then BAM, IT'S CHRISTMAS!!!! This year the entrance is beautifully decorated in the theme of the North Pole Express (Think Polar express) The detail is second to none and they have thought of everything. You can even ring the bell to see if you still believe. There's also a table set up in the restaurant made to look like you are sitting on a carriage as it steams through the snowy countryside. Beautiful.
The menus have been carefully designed to look like a ticket and has a little bell attached to the top which I thought was a great touch, and even as adults we still jingled those bells to see if we could hear them!
The staff were all lovely and welcoming and make you feel special. Nothing was too much for them.
We were seated in the 'shed' a cosy corner with comfy seats, gorgeous décor and just felt like our own private room. We had a blast and really did feel like we kick started our countdown to Christmas.
The food. Let's talk about the food.
The Christmas menu has now launched and three of us tried the food from that menu.
This is what we all ordered from the Christmas menu
Starters
2 x Black Pudding & chorizo potato Croquette (These were really tasty, I did pinch a try from Craig)
1 Arancini which was absolutely delicious and I could have easily just ate these all night.
Main
3 x Bacon and Stuffing wrapped Turkey dinner. This was absolutely delicious and Craig even described the Pigs in blankets as the best he has had yet.
Desserts
2x Candied Ginger Crème Brule which comes with a lovely Gingerbread Person who I shared with Elliot. This was so nice, it was creamy and super tasty. A real treat.
1 Spiced Apple & Cinnamon Crumble
Your festive meal also comes with a glass of fizz.
There's also a great festive kids menu
Prices are - 2 courses for £29.95 or 3 courses for £34.95 and kids menu from £8
Toby & Elliot chose some food from the main menu
Starters - They shared a garlic bread which they said was very nice
Mains - They both choose the woodfired Meat feast pizza which looked amazing and had loads of topping on them. Again they ate the whole lot so it must have been delicious.
For dessert they both choose the Toffee Fudge ripple ice cream which was three scoops and looked yummy.
If you are not a fan of the Christmas Menu there's loads to choose from on the main menu
The food was all fresh, great flavour and beautifully presented. It all came out at the same time, course by course.
