AD | When we visited Devon we were invited along to Quince Honey Farm, not far from where we were staying in North Molton.
Quince Honey Farm is located South Molton and is an award winning honey farm which has something to offer most ages. On our visit the weather was absolutely terrible which resulted in us leaving early so we didn't do any of the tours unfortunately but we did have a good look around and I still feel like it is worth a review. The weather was so bad, the rain was just getting to be too much, we had already made our way around the gardens, the soft play was too young for my kids and we had been in the restaurant and still had an hour to kill before the tour started so we decided to leave and go elsewhere. Although it is a great attraction and look forward to revisiting another day with hopefully better weather so we can enjoy the tours.
There is a large car park, the road into this is a dirt track with lots of pot holes so be prepared for this. However once we were in it was easy to get parked. Parking is free which I found surprising giving everywhere we visited in Devon and Cornwall charged extra for parking (even with a blue badge)
Entrance is via the Gift shop and it is free to visit the shop and restaurant as there's a separate entrance into the bee farm. We headed out into the gardens first and took our time having a look around the plants and we watched the bees working on one of the plants. We took a peek inside of the tour building and as soon as you open the doors you can smell honey. It is delicious! We followed the path around and headed back indoors where we decided to try something from the café. I tried the Devonshire scone with Honey comb and it was delicious.
The Play hive soft play was huge. I didn't get any photos as it was pretty busy but it looked like the kids were having fun. The Honey farm exhibition is a great place to learn all about the bees.
What to expect
Nature Trail
Large indoor soft play
Play hive
Nectar Garden walk
Interactive hives
Restaurant
Gift Shop
You can find lots of info about bees and how they make honey which is great, I think it's very important that people can learn about these gorgeous little creatures. We spent around an hour wandering through the gardens but we did stop to watch some bees and look at the flowers. Its not the biggest attraction but if you do the tours you can easily spend a few hours.
The shop
The shop was fantastic and has a range of pocket money goodies to more expensive items. There's a huge amount of honey to choose from and there's a cart with some jars for you to try before you buy. It was cheaper than I was expecting.
Opening times and Prices
Opening times from 9.30am the tour programme runs from 11am which I thought was quite a long wait and would be better a little bit earlier than this. Dogs are also welcome
Prices for a family ticket of 2 Adults + 2 kids is £62 this includes entry to the tours and soft play. Alternatively you can purchase a soft play ticket for £8 per child adults still have to pay £2 entry. .
If you are planning a visit I would say it is more suited to kids under 12 so you can get more out of your ticket otherwise you are paying the same price but wont use the soft play if you have older kids.
