I was raised by my grandparents and my grandad loved comic books, that is where I gained my love for them.
We would look through his collection and I would read them over and over. I later started to collect my own comic books.
Growing up I never felt like I fitted in, I was being raised by my grandparents and Aunt, I had a love affair with Leonardo & Donatello the TMNT, I was obsessed with WWE and I was absolutely Power Ranger Crazy, then throw in my comic book addiction and you had a full blown tomboy. I am Also quite fond of Batman.
My gran used to dress me in these awful frilly flowerish dresses with matching hats, but all I wanted to do was go home and put my Turtle pjs on and read!
Comic Books were my way of escaping reality and heading into the unknown with mystical magical beings.
Yes I was told I was a nerd or I was tomboy but I really didn't care, I was never one for playing out on the streets, I prefered to stay at home and read or draw my own comic strips.
Marvel & DC was, and still is, my happy places, my security blankets as such.
I love the array of characters and the stories they tell.
Seeing the news yesterday was a shock. 'Stan Lee dead at 95' not something I was prepared for to be honest. He will be remembered for many years to come.
Anyone who knows me knows that I am a Spiderman addict!
'Peter Parker the high school science nerd is bitten by a mysterious spider, which later transforms him into Spiderman'.!
I just love it.
