We love a visit to South Shields and its only a short drive from where we live, so it makes a perfect stop to spend some family time together and enjoy the local attractions on offer. Most of the attractions in South Shields are also budget friendly which makes it a perfect option for a day out.
We recently visited South Shields with Elliot for a day out using The Shields Ferry. During the summer holidays up to three kids under 11 go free with a paying adult. Ferry staff are running promotional giveaways on various dates over the summer holidays. Find out More HERE

North & South Marine Park
South Marine Park is perfect for family fun such as Boat rides, Mini train rides, Play areas and more.
You can also find toilets and a café here too
North Marine park is more of a formal Garden with a play area. Still worth a visit though.
South Shields Museum & Art Gallery
A fantastic Free entry Museum with a pets corner and art galleries
There's also a gorgeous café

Free to walk around outside but there is a small charge to climb to the top and look around the museum

There's lots of coast that you can wander along here, you will also get some amazing views!
