Christmas in Redcar & Cleveland


(AD) When it comes to festive celebrations, Redcar & Cleveland is one area that always has plenty to offer, whether you live locally, or are are thinking about travelling from other parts of the region.


The Redcar Christmas lights switch on has already been and gone, but there are still plenty more great events still to come, including...


🎄Saltburn Ice Trail - Saltburn town centre

Saturday 17 December, 10am – 4pm

A frosty winter adventure is coming to Saltburn…

After the success of last year’s Ice Trail, renowned ice sculptors Sand In Your Eye will return – but this time to Saltburn, placing nine amazing ice sculptures across the town, creating a wonderful one- day trail with pop up festive performances, for families and folks to discover.

Just drop in across the day, grab yourself an ice trail sheet (either print your own or pick one up from one of the event stewards around on the day) and check off each sculpture as you find it by following this handy guide. Those that complete this festive frosty walk will also receive a small prize and be entered into a special competition!

You will also be able to experience a live ice carve and see the talented artists at Sand In Your Eye at work AND there will also be an ice workshop where the elves can help you write your letter to Santa and post them first class to his workshop in a very own special ice post box!

And if that isn’t enough enjoyment throughout the day there will be an array of festive

performances and walk about theatre across the day.

Scrooge and Mr. Scratchit will be travelling Saltburn town spreading Christmas cheer and Bah Humbugs in equal measure!

Theatre Illuminaire will be sprinkling festive magic and bringing Lampposts to life.

Bell and Bullock have travelled back from Victorian Times with their eccentric (festive!)

engineering marvel – a time machine!

Cleveland favourites, Whippet Up! are back with their Travelling Show of merriment, alongside Ebor ‘n’ Gum, two of Yorkshire’s finest Christmas Elves.

Local artist, Suzie Devey will be back in town with Two Tin Cans, a printing studio in a pop-up

telephone box for you to have a go at printing out those last-minute Christmas gifts!

Free to attend, just drop in!



🎅Elf Crazy Christmas Crafts - Ormesby Hall

Every weekend, from 26 November and also Monday 19, Tuesday 20, Wednesday 21 and Thursday 22 December, 11am - 3pm

Get into that festive feeling at Ormesby Hall, children are invited to join the friendly elves for some Christmas crafts and a whole lot of creative fun!



🎄Eston Christmas Market – Eston Town Centre Precinct

Thursday, 1 December, 12pm-5pm

An open-air market will be in Eston Town Centre Precinct where all kinds of crafts, foods and

Christmas goodies will be on sale. Entertainment kicks off from 3pm, including stilt walkers, a

children’s mini waltzer ride, balloon-making and hook-a-duck

Free – just drop in across the day!


🎅New Marske Annual Christmas Parade – New Marske Sports Club

Friday 2 December, 5pm

The New Marske Christmas Parade leaves the Sports Club at 5pm, parades through the village to the Gleneagles Centre led by the Fire Brigade. You will find Santa, Christmas Crafts, music, a tombola, and refreshments.



🎄Saltburn Christmas Parade and Lights Switch On – Saltburn Fire Station

Saturday 3 December, 5pm

Santa and his parade leave the Fire Station at 5pm and will follow a route finishing at the Station Portico. This event is accessible to all, and families can visit Santa in his Grotto for FREE!



🎅Redcar Christmas Family Fun! - Redcar High Street

Saturday 3 December, 10am-3pm

The High Street’s Alive – with the Sounds of Christmas!

This Christmas, head to Redcar town centre for one of the most exciting shopping days of the year and take a trip down memory lane with a selection of performances focussed around everyone’s favourite kind of Christmas Tradition – music!

Free – just drop in across the day!



🎄A Georgian Christmas – Kirkleatham Museum

Saturday 3 & Sunday 4 December, 10am – 3pm.

A Georgian Christmas arrives at Kirkleatham Museum with weekend full of festive events and

activities to help you celebrate a Georgian Christmas. Activities across the day include:

• Community Stepping Stones CIC will be creating a traditional Georgian Christmas table

display and the Georgian theme continues throughout the museum, grounds, and trails.

• Father Christmas will visit with his elves and reindeers throughout the weekend and

Kirkleatham Owl Centre will be introducing some of the feathered friends

• You can create your own Georgian inspired decorations with artist Jane Riley, bringing the

mystery and romance of one of the most traditional decorations to your home this Christmas along with other arts and craft.

• A range of stalls bringing a variety of goods can be found within the pavilion as well as

around the museum grounds and a selection of food and drinks which will be available in the newly opened Kirkleatham Café.

• Indoor and outdoor trails will take place along with a Christmas makeover of our Domestic

Bliss exhibition.

Small charges apply for some activities.



🎅Marske Christmas Festival, Santa Parade and Craft Fair – Throughout Marske

Thursday, 8 December, 3pm-8pm

Marske Community Partnership present their annual festival bringing out the spirit of Christmas in everyone throughout Marske. The Pipers will be leading the festive parade at 6pm from Errington School, down Windy Hill Lane around the roundabout and along Redcar Road finishing in the grounds of Marske Hall!

Santa will be in his Grotto in The White House on Redcar Road 4pm till 5.30pm and 6.30pm till approx. 8pm. There will be a funfair from 4pm in Marske Square. The Fisherman’s Choir, Marske Brass Band and Outwood Academy Bydales Choir will be entertaining us with Carols from 6.25pm.

Zetland FM will be hosting the event throughout the afternoon and evening



🎄Snow Ball - Kirkleatham Walled Garden

Saturday 10 December, 7pm-1am

Join Kirkleatham Walled Garden for an enchanting evening of festive celebrations. Dine in style within the stunning Turner Pavilion, enjoy a three course dinner and dance the night away to live music!

🎅Skelton and Brotton Parish Council and St Margarets Church Community Carol Service - St Margarets Church

Sunday 11 December, 3.30pm

A service of lessons and carols for the whole community, accompanied by Lockwood Band and Local Primary Schools, followed by festive refreshments.



🎄Perfect Pins and Brooches – Kirkleatham Walled Garden

Saturday 17 December, 1pm-4pm

Spend an afternoon creating a small collection of unique, needle-felted pins and brooches to give as gifts with Saltburn artist, Kaitlyn Thompson.

🎅Guisborough Christmas Festival & Santa’s Parade - Guisborough Town Centre

Saturday 17 December, 4pm-8pm

Market from 10am

The Guisborough Christmas Festival and Santa’s Parade on Westgate, Guisborough and marks the official start to Christmas Celebrations in glorious Guisborough – with musical performances and a whole host of festive creative activity.



🎄Boxing Day Dip - Redcar Moore Street slipway

Monday 26 December, 11am

The Boxing Day Dip is back for 2022, when the brave face the freezing North Sea! Whether you’re there purely for the fresh air, fancy dress or to raise money for a good cause; it’s a great morning out!
