I have never really thought about doing a beauty blog post, I don't use much makeup so I don't really have a makeup routine as such. However I do have a few face mask recipes that I love to use, some have worked better than others.
I guess I am one of the lucky ones, I very rarely suffer from spots or blemishes and my skin is usually pretty clear and healthy. Growing up I was a typical teenage girl makeup on my face inches thick because that to me is what I thought was expected from a girl.
I was then diagnosed with Body Dysmorphic Disorder after my first pregnancy and I started this awful obsession with concealer, I was going through 2-3 whole concealer sticks a week, using it like foundation. I now can see that I looked ridiculous back then! It all started when I was found out I was pregnant, I started to put on the usual pregnancy weight and I just didn't take to the changes my body was going through very well. I started to see the bad in everything there was to do with myself. I would hide myself from the world because I felt huge and ugly. I found that covering my face in concealer was hiding my freckles so I started to use it every day as a foundation. I actually looked like casper. As the years went on I stopped caring about other people and what they thought and with help from Craig, I soon realised that I didn't need any makeup and in fact my skin was so much better off with no chemicals. I started to live again. I enjoyed my other two pregnancies without the hassle of concealer!
I started to research natural products that are good for your skin and I came across some really interesting facts, about things I never would have imagined would be great for your skin. I am a natural redhead, I have sensitive skin and I burn very easily so I am very careful of the products that I use. In the Summertime I always wear a sun hat, protect my skin, always have water with me and some form of shade that I can retreat into if I need it.
My skin is important to me, you only get one. I want to help my skin in the best possible ways I can, so why use chemical filled products that are actually pretty harmful?
Honey is something that I always have, it tastes great you can use it in beauty products and it smells pretty good too.
Honey is antioxidant, great for acne and slows down the aging process.
Coconut is great for repairing the skin, soothes rashes and combats flakiness.
Avocado is Great for nourishing the skin and packed with vitamin E.
Apple Cider vinegar is Good for balancing the ph levels and a dab of vinegar to age spots, blemishes overnight reduces the appearance.
Just a few of the worlds skin miracles that I always turn too.
Honey & Oat acne mask
My favourite Skin mask to make is a honey based one which is great for acne (probably why I don't get it)
Honey
Oats (grind them for a smoother mix)
drop of tea tree oil. You can buy this is lots of places now.
Leave it on for 10 mins then wash it of with luke warm water.
Blackhead mask
Coconut oil
Baking soda
form a paste then lather it on your face, leave for 10 minutes then wash it off with cold water.
Avocado refresh my face
Great if you get a little sunburn.
Mash up a ripe avocado, mix a spoon of honey and organic yoghurt.
Plaster all over your mush and reep the benefits. Wash it of after 10 minutes.
Turmeric power
Perfect for uneven skin tone.
Organic natural yoghurt
Spoon of turmeric
Honey
Oats
leave it on for 10 mins, wash it off with warm water.
There you have part of my skin routine. I swear by honey and it's medicinal benefits. People should use more natural based products more often. You would be very surprised at the effect.
Did you know that Queen Cleopatra used to bathe in Milk and Honey? It kept her skin refreshed and she looked great for her age, she was known for her radiency and natural beauty.
