10 Magical Ideas For a Harry Potter Themed Day Out

Writer's picture: Kelly Kelly

Shout out to all Muggles, if you love Harry Potter just as we do, check out these ideas for Harry Potter Themed Days out in the UK. We love a good magic theme and some of the below ideas are perfect for those who enjoy the magical world.

  1. Warner Bro Studios Tour

We did this tour a few years ago and you can spend the full day here, there so much to see and do and the shop is huge too. Be prepared for extortionate prices though and I would take your own lunch as the queues were ridiculous and the food was expensive. Since our last visit they have added some new sections.

  1. Alnwick Castle

Used as the backdrop for Hogwarts, Broomstick lessons and Quidditch. Alnwick castle is worth a visit. You can also take part in broom lessons on your visit. To make a full day out of a visit I highly recommend checking out the Alnwick Gardens and doing a poison garden tour. (Not used in Harry Potter but if you are there anyway its worth checking out)

  1. Goathland

Goathland Station was used as Hogsmeade station. Although there isn't much to do you could have a ride on a steam train or take a walk around the gorgeous village. We have been visiting the village way before it was made popular by Harry Potter and Craig has even been visiting the village way before Heartbeat put it on the map.

  1. Wookey Hole Caves

Appear in one of the movies, and although you don't see much of them it is worth a visit here. We have not been yet but it is on our list for this year and Friends have said you can easily spend a full day exploring.

  1. Lacock Abbey

Appears as various parts including Cloisters, Chapter house, Sacristy and more

  1. Wizard Walk Of York

Lots of wizardly fun. Perfect for Harry Potter fans. We are taking part in February so keep an eye out for more details.

  1. Royal Philharmonic Orchestra Live

For something a bit different you could go and see Harry Potter in Concert by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra

  1. Leadenhall Market London

This is the entrance to the Leaky Cauldron and honestly it is so worth a visit. We actually found it accidentally on a recent trip to London looking for shelter from the wind for a bit. We had some food and then realised where we were!

  1. Gloucester Cathedral

Used in multiple scenes, it is absolutely stunning and worth a visit. We love visiting Cathedrals and this one is our to do list.

  1. Oxford Walking Tour

Visit filming locations on this Oxford Walking Tour. Again we have not yet done this but have been told by a reliable source it is worth doing. We recently visited Oxford last year and I wish we had done this tour!
